Game-Changing Revolution from the Street Priests

Founded in 2014, Street Priests Incorporated is a registered non-profit organization, run majorly by enthusiastic volunteers who serve with the vision of “Transforming the lives of children on the street and turning their potentials into assets for the society”. The organization is committed to creating a safe space for street children by providing a fun and hands-on rehabilitative program that engages them in formal education through unconventional ways, facilitating access to education for at-risk children as a preventive measure from experiencing life on the streets, educating, and informing the public about the problem of street children in their immediate environment and inspire them on ways to get involved through innovative programs, events, and conferences, enforcing the laws on child rights, through a partnership with law enforcement agencies and legal authorities.  

These volunteers are referred to as revolutionaries because they are on a revolution to ensure the change in a society like ours – a society that considers street children to be a menace ignoring their psychological makeup and their rights as humans. Street Priests revolutionaries impact the lives of street children by rehabilitating and educating them through centre activities. Children who show academic prowess are further sent to school on scholarships funded by the organization under the project titled Back to School. Street Priests also embarks on the food bank project which has the goal of feeding street children at least twice a day. The children are also exposed to different skill acquisition programmes such as simple craft making.

To effectively achieve set goals, the organization is divided into various departments such as the media, protocol, content creation, welfare, etc. These different departments facilitate the smooth running of the organization. And of course, the volunteers are not overlooked and various activities such as capacity building, picnics, fun trips, birthday celebrations, etc are put in place to approve their efforts and ensure that they also have a good time while volunteering.
