FIFA WORLD CUP 2022
The 2012 FIFA World Cup in Qatar kicked off on Sunday, November 20 at the Al Bayt Stadium with the hosts losing 2-0 to Ecuador in group A. This is the first time in the history of the FIFA World Cup that the host country will lose their opening match.
The 2022 World Cup begin with 32 teams in eight groups of four and they are:
- Group A: Qatar, Ecuador, Senegal, Netherlands
- Group B: England, Iran, USA, Wales
- Group C: Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Poland
- Group D: France, Australia, Denmark, Tunisia
- Group E: Spain, Costa Rica, Germany, Japan
- Group F: Belgium, Canada, Morocco, Croatia
- Group G: Brazil, Serbia, Switzerland, Cameroon
- Group H: Portugal, Ghana, Uruguay, South Korea
During the group stage, four matches will be played daily (apart from the first two days) and this will run over 12 days with the winners and runners-up of each group progressing to the next round (round of 16).
Below are the matches that have been played so far:
Sunday, November 20
- Group A: Qatar 0-2 Ecuador
Monday, November 21
- Group B: England 6-2 Iran
- Group A: Senegal 0-2 Netherlands
- Group B: USA 1-1 Wales
Tuesday, November 22
- Group C: Argentina 1-2 Saudi Arabia
- Group D: Denmark 0-0 Tunisia
- Group C: Mexico 0-0 Poland
- Group D: France 4-1 Australia
The round of 16 will take place from Sunday, December 3 to Tuesday, December 6.
The Quarterfinals will take place between December 9 and December 10 with the semifinals taking place between December 14 and December 14.
Unlike at Euro 2022, there will be a third-place playoff game on December 17 and the final will be played on Sunday, December 18.
