MESSI WINS BALLON D’OR
The 64th Ballon d’Or annual ceremony took place in Paris, France as Messi won the title agains Van Dijk along side his old and consistent rival Christiano Ronaldo. The Barcelona superstar has won the title for the fifth time.
Lionel Messi who broke Michel Platini record of winning the ballon d’or 4 time on a roll from 2009 – 2012, has added to his world record making it five ballon d’or to his archive. 
The 32yrs old emerged as successor to Luka Modric who came out successful in the 2018 Ballon d’Or ceremony. He now tops the chart as winner for the 6th time. Closely followed by Christiano Ronaldo who has won the title 5 times.
The Barcelona captain scored a total of 63 goals in the past 12 months for both club and country, including 46 goals and 17 assists as the play maker contributed greatly to the Catalans retaining their La Liga crown.
