A MATERIALISTIC GIRL WITH A RESPONSIBLE FAMILY BACKGROUND

MY FAMILY BACKGROUND

“A MATERIALISTIC GIRL”, I know what’s running through your mind. She must be a loosed girl from an irresponsible home. Probably raised by a single parent, pampered, grew up always having her way…, you will be wrong to conceive such.

I had a very decent upbringing. I was born into a highly religious family, staunch Catholics with both parent in the Order of the Knight of St. Molumba. My parents are not just educated but learned.

As a child, my father’s educational achievements inspired me but I had no plans of treading his path or the likes as I detest Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics which where his favourites. I fancied art.
My family is well to do, not wealthy but not poor. My parents could conveniently afford to enroll their children, my siblings and I in the best schools in the city, where the rich send their kids.

Dad held sensitive positions in the state before retirement and my mom, though not as highly placed as my dad, was making her way through in her career and gradually climbing the corporate ladder.

My siblings and I had the best of childhood we could ask for. I, for once did not attend a public school from kindergarten to tertiary . That was how privileged I was, but I did not utilized it. Perhaps, I didn’t realise how fortunate I was. I was surrounded by bookworms. Everybody were excelling in academics except myself. I chose the life I lived by the excitement, fun and pleasures attached to it.

I had dreams and aspirations. At least, you’re reading a piece of something I love doing.

I have always dreamt of being an entrepreneur. To own chains of successful businesses across value chains in Nigeria and Africa at large. In my illusion, I was living in a customized world in Disney channel. Nevertheless, my love for it cannot be expressed in words. It was as shampoo to a virgin hair.

However, my expectations were far above my effort in achieving them as my love for material possessions and quick riches almost ruined me in the long run. Thanks to the “sex for gain” business.

Business started in 2009. This was the genesis of my journey to Babylon. Every posh girl was a Blackberry holder. BBM pinging had knocked our beloved 2go off the top spot, every girl’s desire was to belong to the “Blackberry Community”.

The Bold, Storm, Curve, Tour, Pearl, name it…, Whomsoever was not a proud owner of these BB phones was tagged a “commoner”. I didn’t want to belong in that category, hence the strife to purchase one for myself as my parents were not freaked by the “things of the world”. Consequently, I couldn’t request from them, a Blackberry phone, knowing such request will not be granted. “Babe had got to meet the standard na”.

The emergence of human hair which was popularly know as “Brazilian Hair” was another journey of a thousand miles. Babes do things…, mugu fall, guy man wack. Guy man sef fall sometimes, babes chop, clean mouth…

This was when I met my handsome, sweet, hilarious man-friend with sugar-coated tongue, Mr. Anthony Ogaga popularly known as “Mr. Tony Gaga”. A man who was still in his 40’s. He was a friend indeed. Always checking up on me, fond of presenting gift items and rendering financial assistance where necessary. He portrayed the characteristics of a caring father.

Oh! Did I fail to mention?

He was my first “Sugar Daddy”
