MICHAEL SHOWUNMI: PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED BUT NOT RESTRICTED

You probably have seen some physically challenged persons begging along the streets, roundabouts, market places, mall entrance, church etc. It common in our country.

We feel pity to give alms to some of them.

Sometimes, people without physically disability hang around corners to ask for assistance. These ones we sometimes feel disgusted at, as their condition does not earn them the pity they crave.

THIS ARTICLE IS ABOUT AN EXCEPTIONAL YOUNG MAN, THOUGH WITH PHYSICAL DISABILITY, HE STRIVE FOR THE STARS…

A CASE OF TRUE RESILIENCE 

MICHAEL SHOWUNMI is an award winning teacher, hence, he is fondly referred to as “The Greatest Teacher in the World” which he prides himself.

Showunmi is a graduate of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, (LAUTECH). He holds a B.Tech in Chemical Engineering with a CGPA of 4.21/5.00. He has a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) in Mathematics Education from National Open University of Nigeria and IGCSE, Mathematics 0580 from Cambridge Education Group.

His teaching journey is traced back to his NYSC days at Lagos.  He has taught in various schools in Lagos  and Ogun states and some of which he still teaches. They include:

1. Chris Flourish College
2. Good Shepherd
3. Green Spring Schools
4. Golden Triangle College
5. D’Omega Schools

Michael also has flair for volunteerism. He volunteered to raised funds to purchase white marker boards for Ijaye Ojokoro Seconday School, and donated two white marker board to Success Gate Schools.

He volunteered to fund raised a project of supplying 10 classroom furniture to Ijaye Secondary Schools, to supply school uniforms to the special children at Oore Ofe Inclusive School, and I provided sanitary pads for the girls at St. Michael’s School, Sango Ota

Michael has also been sighted giving alms to the less privilege. He has earned to himself various awards. Some of which are:
