On the 29th of April 2022, Offiong Ikpeme Foundation held its OIF Award and Pageantry Ceremony at Etaval Hotel, Calabar. The event had as its highlight pageantry for Mr and Miss Offiong Ikpeme, performances by budding young artistes in Calabar, the unveiling of a unique app called O.I app, designed by the CEO himself, Mr.Offiong Ikpeme. Of course, MeetingYou Magazine was there live to cover the event.
One of the most thrilling moments came when a young SS2 Hope Waddel Student by the name of Charles stepped on stage to perform. The young performer chose the stage name Rema although he was dressed in Fireboy’s signature look: all white and a black durag. He stepped on stage with the confidence of an adult performer erasing from the audience the memory of previous performers. He, first of all, thanked Mr Offiong for giving him a platform to show what he’s made of. In his words “if no be Mr. Offiong Ikpeme, where I for dey?”
The young sensation proved he had something to offer and displayed some moves while singing. His performance wasn’t perfect, but it was exciting and entertaining to watch. The audience believed that with enough mentorship he could just be something phenomenal. This thought indeed ran through the minds of the top guns present at the event. After his performance, MC Nero stepped on stage and pledged to take the young man under his wings. The CEO himself, Offiong Ikpeme, promised to pay his school fee. Mr. John Collins promised to pay his JAMB and WAEC fees and also pay 50% of his first recording. The young lad also got an endorsement which will help groom him in his music career. Mr. Offiong Ikpeme also announced that the first Music School the foundation would set up would be named after young Charles. He also informed him that he would be performing in a show coming up in May as the youngest artist.
Clearly, everything was more than he hoped for and he was speechless and could only hug his benefactors. The CEO urged him to get his name since “Rema” was already a music icon.
All in all, it is almost safe to say that young “Rema” is on his way to stardom if he can efficiently utilize the opportunities handed to him. It’s just a matter of time while we watch out for him.
