MICROSOFT APPOINTS KUNLE AWOSIKA AS HEAD OF AFRICA TRANSFORMATION OFFICE
Microsoft, a tech behemoth, has named Kunle Awosika, a Nigerian, as the new director of its Africa transformation office.
Wael Elkabbany is succeeded by Awosika, who has been with the company since 2000, as the head of the Africa Transformation Office (ATO).
Awosika has held several positions at Microsoft, including serving as one of the original three members of the team that established the company’s office in Nigeria.

Awosika responded to his appointment by stating that he is dedicated to assisting Africa in realizing its digital potential.
“I look forward to playing a role in unlocking Africa’s potentials as the ATO develops and steers strategic partnership with governments, international organizations, and partners to accelerate digital transformation agendas and fuel a knowledge-based economy,” he said
Wael Elkabbany, the outgoing director of Microsoft’s Africa Transformation Office (ATO), made the following statement in his remarks: “Kunle Awosika has a multidimensional understanding of transformational technology and deep experience of the continent. He is perfectly situated to oversee Microsoft’s transformation ambitions for the African continent, including strategy, investments, and activities.
The Africa Transformation Office is committed to promoting investment and fostering growth in the four key development sectors of digital infrastructure, skill development, small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs), and start-ups.
Awosika has held a variety of positions with the company, including director of enterprise business. She was one of the three pioneer team members when Microsoft opened an office in Nigeria in 2000.
The Africa Transformation Office has led programs and formed key alliances throughout Africa to provide digital infrastructure and enable optimal tech operations.
