Sexo y Vine – Episode Two (Uwana and Matthias)

“Oh my! It’s almost 6:30am, I need to hurry so that I can beat this Lagos traffic”. Uwana thought to herself as she scurried for the door of her living room. “My keys! Oh my God! How can I forget my car keys!”. She dashed for the fine box on the shelf in the living room that housed her keys. She snatched it and headed for the door hastily.

“Ahmadu! Open the gate please, I’m running late” Uwana beckoned on the gatekeeper that secured the gate of the compound she lived in. It is a storey building that housed four flats. Uwana lived in one of the flats on the ground floor. Her apartment is a well-furnished two-bedroom apartment, adorned with antique.

Uwana is a young woman in her late twenties who was privileged to hit it big and earn well for herself at an early age. Her parents were wealthy people but she lost them to the cold hands of death when she was just a fresher in the university. It brought her discomfort but she had an uncle, her mother’s younger brother who took her in and became responsible for her.

He took over her parents’ business and has been in charge ever since.

When Uwana graduated from the university, she was supposed to take over the management for the business but decided it was best her uncle continued to manage it while she carved a niche for herself. She finished with a first-class in Marketing and decided to build a career in it.

She’s been awarded the best marketer severally where she currently works and now holds the position for Head of Marketing department. What a big deal for a young woman in this time and age.

She turned on the radio and one of her favorite songs came up “… Dance, boggie, jiggy Jo oo! Money for ground pick it slow” … As she vibed and bopped her head to the song playing in the background, a smile came to her face. The memories from the wedding after-party came flooding like a river but this time, soothing.

“What a pleasure to make your acquaintance Uwana. I must say, not trying to flatter you or anything but you’re a beautiful woman”. She blushed as she hid her face behind her arm, her hand still In his. “Thank you, you’re not bad looking yourself”, she retorted trying not to act flustered.

Matthias looked like a man about the same age as her. He’s tall, about 6 feet 4 inches and has dimples. “Oh my gosh! He has dimples!” She screamed internally as she profiled him further.

They sat back down to continue with their drinks. “So do you like wine?” He asked. She looked at him and smirked, “why did you ask?”.

“Well, only a wine lover will ask directly for a Madeira”. He replied. “Oh! I see! Yes. I like wine. I’m a lover of good wine. How about you?”

“I’m also a lover of good wine. I believe in the sweetness and tanginess of wine. I’ll tell you a secret, wine gives me motivation”. He said, smiling.

She chuckles and responds, “So, you’re one of them? I see”

“Yeah!! Emm… Do you want to dance?” He asked. “Sure, I’m already bored from sitting and talking with you”, she replied. “Ouch! That hurts”. They both laughed and went to the dance floor.

“So, how would you like to go on a wine date with me?” They’ve been dancing for about ten minutes before he muttered the question. “For real? A wine date? Who goes on a wine date?” She replied.

“Well, I’m not your regular restaurant, movie kind of guy and since you love wine and I do too, and I know a cool spot where they serve the best of wines, I thought it would be nice” he blurted out. “Phew! I said a lot”. “Yeah, you sure did ” she said to him smiling at his embarrassment. “I’ll go with you, I’d like to go”.

“Oh my! Thank you! I was planning on how to convince you to go with me because I’ll really like to know more about you”. She was silent and he didn’t talk further. They danced a bit more, exchanged contacts, and went their way.
