Azizat Oshoala set out to create Records

The Super Falcon captain: Azizat Oshoala  MON sets out to breaks existing records and create new ones.

Oshoala who currently play for FC Barcelona Femeni since January 2019 when she was transferred to the Spanish side on loan till the end of the session. The club latter in May 2019 announced Oshoala’s full transfer to the club and extension until 2022.

Oshoala was an active force in the Falcon’s front line in the  2014 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. She was named best player and was the highest goal scorer tournament. . She was also named best player and second top goalscorer with the Super Falcons team who won the 2014 African Women’s Championship.

She made her debut during the UEFA Women’s Champions League final last year when she became first African to play in a UEFA Women’s Champions League final. She was introduced as a substitute into the game in the 87th minutes of the game which was her third appearance in the competition.

She did not only became the first African to play in the UEFA Women’s Champions League final, but also the first African to score in the UEFA Women’s Champions League final and the first player to score FC Barcelona’s Femeni  first UEFA League final goal. She found the back of the net 2 minutes after she was substituted.

Although the team lost the finals to Lyon 4:1, Oshoala created new records in the few minutes she played.

Oshoala was nominated along side Equatorial Guinea Jade Boho for Liga Iberdrola Player of the Week 24.

She is currently in a tie with fallow Compatriot Perpetual Nkwocha who created a record in 2011 after winning the African Women’s Footballer of the year for the 4th time (2004, 2005, 2010, 2011).

Oshoala’s came emerged winner of the 2019 African Women Footballer of the year in January 2020 after emerging winner in years 2014, 2016, 2017 respectively. Her victory was huge in spite of the so called betrayal by her fellow Nigerians who sat at the judgement seats.

She has started well this year with  4 goals to herself in Barcalona Femeni 6:0 victory over Tacon on Saturday, January 11, 2020. Just five days after she received the CAF award for outstanding  performance in 2019.

With her outstanding performance this year she is sure to create records and set the pace for other African female footballers.
